Music Source

Specify the path to the remote host computer that is sharing song files on the network. After saving or removing a music source, return to Playback or Library then select "Update library" from the Menu.

Choose the type corresponding to the file sharing protocol used on the remote host. Note that NFS mounts that fail can cause up to a 2 minute timeout. This screen will appear to hang when this happens.
SCAN generates a list of paths to SMB or NFS shares found on the network. A path consists of the host or IP address followed by a forward slash followed by the share name for example SomeHost/ShareName.
Path manually
Try userid Guest and a blank password unless your NAS device requires a specific userid/password. Note that single and double quotes are not allowed.
Friendly name (alias) for this Music Source. The name will appear in Library Folder view under the NAS folder. Format is 1-25 characters, alphanumeric, hyphen allowed.
Advanced
This setting determines how characters are encoded. The default is UTF-8 which is a multibyte encoding that can represent any Unicode character. ISO 8859-1 is a single-byte encoding that can represent the first 256 Unicode characters. Both encode ASCII exactly the same way.
Default for this setting is 61440.
Default for this setting is 65536.
Most mount options are auto-negotiated when the mount is attempted but in some cases auto-negotiation cannot determine the correct values and the mount may fail. In this case certain options must be explicitly added. Some of these are listed below.
SMB: vers=x.y, sec=ntlm or sec=ntlmssp
NFS: vers=x.y, type=nfs2, nfs3 or nfs4
